Mount Hope-Oct. 22 (RNS)--Samma Bennett, 72, of Mount Hope died at 5:15am today in Hill Top Nursing Home after a long illness.
Bennett, a retired miner, was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local No. 9181 at Quinwood.
Born at Pluto, he was a son of the late John and Elizabeth Bennett.
Survivors include his wife, Cenith; two brothers, Emory of McDonald and Omer of Hinton; a sister, Mrs Laverne Stanley of Hardy, Ky.; three sons, Floyd and Jerry, both of Wellsville, Ohio, and William of Mount Hope; four daughters, Mrs. Evelyn West of Miami, Fl, Mrs. Juanita Campbell of Price Hill, Mrs. Beulah Nicholson of Hoboken, N.J., and Ruby at home; 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 pm Friday in the Tyree Funeral Chapel at Mount Hope with the Rev. Robert Doan in charge. Burial will be in Blueridge Memorial Gardens on the Beckley-Mount Hope Road.
