Frankton - Katherine E. McCarty, 89, Frankton, died April 4, 2009 at Miller's Merry Manor in Chesterfield after an extended illness.
She was born January 13, 1920 in Frankton, the daughter of Jesse and Ethel (Collet)Layne.
She graduated from Frankton High School in 1938.
She married Robert McCarty in 1940. He died in 1996.
She was a life member of the Frankton Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet and husband Dennis Swartz of Anderson, and Ann and husband John Carr of Thorntown, six grandchildren, Anna and Husband Scott Epperly of Frankton, Ashley Swartz of Frankton, Benjamin and wife Annie Carr of Chicago, Tom and wife Mara McCarty of Alexandria, Tim and wife Connie McCarty of Anderson, Tana and husband Joe Gross of Alexandria; eight great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Epperly, Nathan Epperly, Kristin, Mark, Brandy, and Jeremy MccCarty, and Jimmie and Abbie Gross and one great-great-grandchild, Makenzie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Maxine Todd and Margaret Jackson, a brother, William Layne, and a son William McCarty.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home with the Rev. Al Covell officiating. Burial will follow in the K of P & I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Frankton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the compassionate care givers at Bethany Point Health Campus and Miller's Merry Manor of Chesterfield.
