Charles Howard Drake, 71, of North Zulch died Oct. 9 in Bryan. Funeral services were held Oct. 12 at the Madisonville Funeral Home. Rev. Glenn Connor officiated. Burial followed at the Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch. Drake was born on June 3, 1933 in Madison County to L.A. and Louise (May) Drake. He left home at 16 to work on the pipeline and pipelined all over the United States. Drake also owned his own trucking and heavy equipment business, building oil well sites. He was also a rancher. He was well loved by his family especially his nieces and nephews and his many friends. Drake was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Charles Paul Drake; daughter, Doris Anna Drake; brother, Bobby Drake; half brothers, Marvin and Ernest Drake and two sisters, Ila Rae McReynolds and Lucille Cunningham. Drake is survived by his wife, Bonnie Drake of North Zulch; sons, James Mack Drake and wife Elaine of Cisne, Ill. and Charles Howard Drake, Jr. and wife Wendy of North Zulch; stepsons, Darrell Siegert and wife Teresa of Bryan, Ricky Siegert and wife Sherrie of Franklin, and Nicky Siegert and wife Lisa of Houston; daughters, Dawn Drake and Renee Creson of Alvin; brothers, Travis Mathis and wife Sara of Caldwell, and Lemuel Drake and wife Pat of North Zulch; half brothers, Otis Drake and wife Ruth of Canyon, and Durward Drake and wife Billie of Lake Jackson; sisters, Mildred Drake Kindt of North Zulch, and Johnnie Sue Crouch and husband Joe of Brazoria; twenty grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Floyd Drake, Darren Drake, Kenneth Akins, Darrell Siegert and Darrell Drake. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Drake, Nelson Drake, Bobby Drake and David Lightsey. Madisonville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
