James Doyle, 74, well known, fruit grower, died at his home on Highway 37 between Monett and Pierce City at 11:30 Wednesday night, September 4.
Funeral services were conducted at St. Lawrence Church in Monett at 9 Saturday morning. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Pierce City under the direction of Wessell's Funeral Service.
Mr. Doyle was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Michael Doyle and was born in Ireland, February 1, 1861. He married Mary Moody in 1887. He is survived by his widow and seven children, Clarence of Oklahoma City, Joe of Detroit, James P. of Pierce City, Mrs. Charles Bell and Charles Doyle of St. Louis, and Isabell at home. Three children are dead. Mr. Doyle served as judge of Lawrence County for three terms.
