A son of Joseph H. (1900-1983) and Lorene Compton (1901-1979). A wonderful young man who played football and basketball at ABL High School in Broadlands, Illinois. I recall when we were teenagers he was asked to preach an Easter Sunday sermon at the Methodist Church in Allerton, Illinois. A fine young man who was killed in an industrial accident at the Homer, Illinois grain elevator a couple of weeks before he would graduate, with high honors, from the University of Illinois. He was a role model for his peers, before the idea became fashionable. Billy, the world would be a better place with a man such as you in it.
