Billy Dean Bessire, 79, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in South Georgia Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Cecil Gray officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Mr. Bessire was born Oct. 5, 1929, in Hillsboro, where he was raised. He married Elsie Thompson on May 26, 1951. He worked 41 years as an area supervisor for Asplundh Tree Expert Co.

Mr. Bessire was a lifelong member of South Georgia Church of the Nazarene. He was an avid sportsman. He loved hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Opal Bessire; a sister, Evelyn Karlik; a brother, Tommy Bessire; and a great-granddaughter Avery Klinke.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Bessire; a daughter, Vickie Weld and husband Mark of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Alex Klinke and wife Lori of Amarillo, Andy Klinke and wife Ashley of Amarillo and Sarah Weld of Amarillo; four great-grandchildren, Addison Klinke, Andrew Klinke II, Rylee Klinke and Asthon Klinke; and two sisters, Carolyn Duncan of Athens and Geraldine McClafflin of Bethany, Okla.
