Mary Banas Sienkiewicz, 95, of 630 Prospect Hill Road, Windsor, passed away peacefully on Monday (August 31, 2009).


She was born in Enfield on March 13, 1914. She was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Talnak) Banas and the widow of John Sienkiewicz, who passed away on November 20, 1982.


She lived most of her life on her farm in Windsor, where she raised strawberries and vegetables. Prior to retirement, she worked at Electro-Flex Heat in Bloomfield. After retirement she enjoyed spending her time taking care of her nieces and nephews and working on her farm.


Mary is survived by her beloved brother, John M. Banas of Enfield; two sisters, Elizabeth King of Broad Brook and Stella Kulas and her husband Lucian of Suffield; a special niece and nephew, Kathy Banas-Marti of Suffield and Francis Smith of Windsor, who helped her in later years, as well as many nieces and nephews whom she cherished. She is predeceased by her brother, Edward Banas and a sister, Pauline Smith, and a sister, Anne Sedor, who recently passed away in February of this year.


Friends may call from 9:30-11 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2009 at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor, with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Avenue, Bloomfield.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Poquonock.
