Joseph Corrigan, 90, of Toms River passed away August 27, 2009 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. He was born in Philadelphia, PA January 28, 1919 to Charles Joseph Corrigan and Mary Janey Karsner Corrigan. Joseph was a World War II and Cold War Veteran. He served in the 8th Air Force in the offense over Europe as a gunner on B-17's where he received wounds in action over France in September 1943. He served in the occupation of Japan and served as a gunner on the B-36 bomber during the Korean conflict. He received many accolades during his military career including the Purple Heart, Air Medal, European Campaign, and Occupation of Japan Medals. Joseph retired a MSGT from the USAF in 1960 and held many employments after the military in the federal, state, and private sectors including the US Post Office. He was preceded by his father Charles J. Corrigan, his mother Mary Jane "Janey" Corrigan, sisters Mary and Dorothy Corrigan, brother Charles Karsner Corrigan, his wife, Emily (Spivey) Corrigan Coats and wife, Tomoko Corrigan
