Phillip D. Reaves, 84, of the Asheville Highway, died Sunday after a brief illness.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Following the war, he was employed by Mohawk Milling Co. and retired after 27 years of service as a bus driver for the Greene County School System.

Mr. Reaves was a member of Solomon Lutheran Church.

His family noted, "He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved all levels of football. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed."

Survivors include his wife of 61 years: Hazel Kinser Reaves; a son and daughter-in-law: Gary and Jeannie Reaves, a daughter and son-in-law: Regina and Marty White, his grandchildren: Brandi Reaves, Rebecca and David Uhls and Jaime White, and a great-grandson: Cameron Uhls, all of Greeneville; two sisters: Audean Edwards of Limestone and Rosie Murr of Baltimore, Md.; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Charles and Margaret Kinser and Zella Reaves.

Mr. Reaves was a son of the late Arville and Eula Reaves, and was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Reaves, and a sister, Betty Williams.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning at Solomon Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pastor Larry Moore and Pastor Kirk Bridgers will officiate.

Pallbearers will be his nephews: Lanny Kinser, Russell Kinser, Elbert Kinser, Marvin Kinser, Darwin Kinser and Ted Reaves.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews: Mickey Reaves, Kyle Dean Reaves, Terry Reaves, George Murr Jr., Michael Williams and Keith Williams; his nieces: Sue Demas and Beverly Laws; the members of Solomon Lutheran Church; his fellow Greene County Schools bus drivers, and the staffs of Nolachuckey Elementary School, South Greene High School, and the Greeneville-Greene County Center for Technology.
