Myrtle Frances (Hurd) Messer was born to Marvin and Sena (Walters) Hurd 8-22-1929 in Burnside area Kentucky.
She married Benjamin Messer, Sr 5-18-1946 and lived in the Hamilton, Ohio area until she died 1-29-1997.
She had three children, Joyce Ann, Benjamin, Jr, and Randall. She was very active in Cub Scouting with the boys and became a trainer for leaders. She was also involved in Boy Scouts when the boys were older and also did training for Boy Scout leaders.
She loved to sew, making clothes for herself, her children, and her dogs as well as making quilts from the left over fabrics. She also liked to crochet and tried many other crafts. She loved the outdoors and especially liked sleeping outside with her kids in summer.
She collected rocks from everywhere she went to bring home and put in her many flower beds.
She wrote songs and stories as well as Christmas plays for the Scipio Baptist Church in Scipio, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her father Marvin Hurd, Her Mother Sena (Walters) Hurd, Sisters Ruby (Hurd) Hubbard, and Dorothy Hurd, and brother Charles Benjamin Hurd. She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Messer, Sr, her children Joyce Ann (Messer) Cardey of Riverside, Ca, Benjamin Messer, Jr of Leesburg, Fl and Randall Messer of Gratis, Ohio. Her brothers Sam Hurd and Paul Hurd of Burnside, Ky and sisters Maggie (Hurd) Coleman, Mabel Hurd and Nora (Hurd) Coleman of Burnside, Ky. Her Grandchildren Stephanie (Messer) Chartier of Mt Dora, Fl, Suzanne (Messer) Napier of Hamilton, Ohio, Kelly Ann Shumaker of Riverside, Ca and David Cardey of Riverside, Ca. Great Granddaughter Elaina Chartier of Mt Dora, Fl.
