Paul E. Cornwell, 81, Plainfield and formerly of the Carbon area, died Sunday October 15, in Vincent's Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born north of Carbon in Parke County on September 7, 1908, the son of George W. and Katie Pell Cornwell. He attended common school in that area.

He was a inventory checker for Sears in Indianapolis for 25 years and retired in 1970. He had resided in Plainfield for the past two years.

He was a member of the West Brook Church of the Nazarene in Indianapolis and was formerly treasurer for the Carbon Church of the Nazarene who presented him with a distinguished service award.

He was preceded in death by a brother, George H. Cornwell, and a sister, Hilda Brattain.

Survivors include his wife, Edna L. Hayes Cornwell, whom he married on October 6, 1928; one son , Paul M. Cornwell, Brownsburg; a daughter, Betty Glendy, Moorseville; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held today in Miller Memorial Chapel.

Rev. J. E. Childress, pastor of the West Brook Church of the Nazarene officiated. Burial was in Calcutta Cemetery.
