Sarah Ann (1829 – 1912) who had divorced her husband Uriah LaDow in Fulton County about the same time. She remarried widower William Sigourney and filed for guardianship for all or some of her brother’s children.

Sarah and William Sigourney raised Emma, returning to Camden, Ohio. The other siblings of Emma are reported to have had a difficult life. Death and burial location of mother Amelia French Bates-Bilmore is sought.
