Chad was a police officer with the Georgetown Police Department, Georgetown, Delaware. He joined the force on September 2, 2008.

He was tragically killed in the line of duty while trying to apprehend suspects reportedly shooting guns at a McDonalds on Route 113.

Prior to joining the Georgetown Police Department, Officer Spicer had work for the Laurel Police Department (June 17, 2008 – August 24, 2008); Bridgeville Police Department (March 1, 2004 – June 15, 2008); and the Delaware Department of Corrections (2000 to 2004).

He was a native of Georgetown and graduated from Sussex Central High School, and Delaware Technical and Community College in 1999.

Chad was an outstanding police officer and will be sorely missed by his family, friends and his fellow officers.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the National Criminal Enforcement Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working out, hunting and fishing.

In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been established for the benefit of Aubrey. Contributions can be sent to the Aubrey Spicer Trust, c/o Norman E. Spicer, Wilmington Trust Bank, 139 S. State St., Dover DE 19901, or any Wilmington Trust Bank.
