Richard Braxton Pate Sr, age 82, formerly a resident of Woodbridge for 48 years, Va., passed away September 1, 2009 at the Gainesville Health and Rehabilitation.

Mr. Pate was born November 9, 1926 in Goldsboro, North Carolina and was the son of the late Norman and Lula (Anderson) Pate. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Louise Pate and three brothers, Leroy, Marvin and Herman Pate.

Richard was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force after 25 years of service. He then worked for the U.S. Post Office in Woodbridge for over 20 years.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Braxton Pate, Jr. of Manassas, Va. and Phillip Thomas Pate of Woodbridge, Va. and one daughter, Susan Dunn of Gainesville, Va. He was also survived by six grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the Mountcastle Funeral Home in Woodbridge.

The interment will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Virginia. Arrangements by Mountcastle Funeral Home.
