Donald Duane Cox, age 78, of Rensselaer passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009 at VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso, Indiana.
Donald was born in Mt. Ayr, IN on December 11, 1930, the son of the late Zola (Schanlaub) Cox and Steven Cox.
He had been a local resident of 13 years, also having lived in New Elliott, Dyer, Morocco, and Monticello, Indiana. Donald attended the Mt. Ayr School and served in the U.S. military from 1950-1955 during the Korean War. He was a pipe fitter and welder by trade, working for Inland Steel in East Chicago, IN. He was a member of the U.S. Steel Workers Union and a Master Mason.
Donald's marriage was in Hammond, Indiana on May 28, 1960 to Betty Estill who survives. Along with his wife Betty, Donald is survived by his children, Paul (Marie) Stinnett of Bryon, TX, Georgia (Al) Williamson of Goodyear, AZ, Royce (Jeff) Buresh of Sedona, AZ, Denise Trammell of Canton, GA, Tammie (Randy) Goehler of San Diego, CA and Donald Cox of Lafayette, IN; ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one sister, Betty Brown of Cedar Lake, IN.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, three brothers and one sister.
Pastor Paul Baggerly will be officiating the service.
