LORAIN Roger E. Dudley, 77, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008, at EMH Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born September 3, 1931 in Wellington, Ohio. He resided in Lorain for the past 9 years and formerly resided in Vermilion for 28 years.
Roger graduated from Amherst High School in 1949, attended Bowling Green State University for 2 years, served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955 during the Korean Conflict and traveled to many countries. He was employed by the New York Central Railroad for 10 years and was a purchaser for the Ford Motor Co. in Lorain for 25 years.
He was a member of St. John UCC of South Amherst; AMVETS of Vermilion; and Berlin Heights Conservation Club, where he was the Secretary for 28 years. He enjoyed his family and friends, family history, playing cards and watching
sports.
Mr. Dudley is survived by his wife Waneta Dudley (Lemasters) of 48 years; son Roger "Erik" Dudley (wife Theresa) of Elyria; daughters Beth Dudley Stauffer
(husband Stan) of Fredericktown, Ohio; Heather Hire (husband Steve) of Delaware, Ohio; niece Laura Weiner Smith (husband Donald Jr.) of Lorain; grandchildren Briana Stull, Shane Stull, Reese Dudley of Elyria; Samantha Dudley-Hire, Rebekah and Noah Hire of Delaware; grand niece Nicole Smith; nieces and nephews Michael (wife Cheryl) Ryan of Elyria; David Ryan of Amherst; Kathy Gaudinier (husband
Jay) of Amherst; step-sister Betty Lou Palmer of North Ridgeville.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents Donald Dudley and Eva Dudley Olmstead (nee Coats); step-father Melvin Olmstead; sister Joyce Ryan; nephew Donald Ryan.
Services will be Monday, December 8, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. in the Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second St., Elyria. The Rev. Paul Eaton of St. John UCC in South Amherst will officiate. Friends may visit Sunday, December 7, from 2-7 p.m. at
the funeral home. Burial will be in the Camden Cemetery, Camden Township.
