NORWALK -- Wilbur C. "Web" Deisher, 87, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Saturday, December 11, 2010 in Gaymont Nursing Center.
He was born April 1, 1923 in Hollins, Va., to the late Clayton N. and Lillian Pearl (Austin) Deisher and came to this area in 1961 from Wellington, Ohio.
Web was a 1941 graduate of Wellington High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in W.W. II in the Pacific Theater as M/M 3rd class.
He retired in 1982 from Columbia Gas of Ohio after more than 30 years of service as a mechanic.
He was a life member of American Legion Post #547 in Monroeville, Ohio and Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Norwalk, Ohio. Web was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Norwalk, where he served as head usher for many years, and once was a trustee who helped with the renovations of the church, and was a former boy scout leader.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, playing pool, and numerous outdoor projects such as cutting wood from his 18 acres of woods, with splitting and storing for winter heat.

Web participated with the Methodist Church's Volunteers in Mission to Haiti, Nevis and Montserrat as well as a trip to Chicago with the youth of the church in 1991 where they renovated a high rise home to be used as low-income housing for the needy people of the area.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (McCleary) Deisher, whom he married January 1, 1978, of Norwalk, Ohio and by his daughter Beverly Gay (Gary) Surratt of Clayton, Michigan, by his grandchildren, Sean (Michelle) Surratt of New Carlisle, Indiana and Krista (Douglas) Damery, of Hudson, Michigan, and by his great grandchildren, Evan Damery, Genena Damery, Ava Surratt, and Olivia Surratt, and by his nieces, Susan (Dennis) Allen of Elyria, Ohio and Dawn Deisher of Athens, Ohio. He is also survived by his step children, Warren L. Hainline of Albemarle, North Carolina and Thomas A. Hainline of Durham, North Carolina, 4 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Genena Belle (Becker) Deisher in 1977 and by his brother, Earl N. Deisher in 1996.
Friends may call on Monday, December 13, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2010 in the Norwalk First United Methodist Church, 60 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Gary Streiff will officiate.
