The following is obituary published in the Elwood newspaper on Monday, March 24, 1924:

"Aged Resident Called"

"Mrs. Rebecca Maley Dies This Afternoon After Brief Illness"

Mrs. Rebecca Maley, 82, died at her home at 2106 South C Street this afternoon at 1:15 o'clock after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late Patrick Maley, and has been a resident of Elwood for many years, enjoying the affectionate regards for all who knew her.

Mrs. Maley was born in Franklin County and came to Elwood with her family thirty years ago occupying the property of which she died. There the little ones grew to manhood and womanhood and went away and there she resided until the summons called to join her husband who preceded her to the grave twenty years ago.

She is survived by nine children, William and Michael of Elwood; Mrs. Bertha Clingsmith, Mrs. Edith Wiley(?), and Mrs. Martha Mikesell of Ellsburgh; Patrick of Kokomo; Mrs. Mamie Simpson of Chesterton, Ind., Mrs. Cora Benbow, of Hagerstown, and Howard, of Columbus, Ohio.

She was a member of the Christian church and of the Sons and Daughters of Liberty. Arrangements for the funeral were not announced this afternoon.
