Mr. Rodgers was a corporate accountant and finance manager during his career. He was ordained as a Deccon at the age of 28. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Carpenter Rodgers; daughter Cheryl Rodgers Reed and husband Gene; brother Phillip Rodgers and wife Margaret; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wendell and Connie Wood; grandson Keith Reed, great-grandson Peyton Reed and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Norval Rodgers and Annie Belle Smoke Rodgers, and one nephew
Greg Rodgers.
Services will be Friday, September 4, 2009 at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. W.A. Dillard and Rev. Andrew J. O'Kelly officiating. Interment will be held at Magnet Cove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Rodgers, Antonio Duke, Gene Reed, Keith Reed, Bud Rybard and Danny Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be Evon Gills, nephew Donnie Rodgers, and the Men of Francois Missionary Baptist Church.
