Norman Bowen, Jr. was born in Beaumont, Texas on April 25, 1963. He was the only child born to Norman Sr. and Dorothy Bowen. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1981 and attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in the year 1983 and was stationed in Ft. Jackson, S.C. for 3 years. Norman Jr. was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church at the age of 12 years old under the leadership of Pastor Wesley Harris, Sr.; later he joined Rock Island Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ransom E. Howard, Sr. He participate4d in the male chorus. He battled with dialysis for 11 years until his departure.

On July 24, 2009 Norman Bowen, Jr. departed this life at 8:00 a.m. at Memorial Hermann in Houston, Texas. He leaves to continue the earthly journey of life his devoted and most reliable dad, Norman Sr., eight aunts, one uncle and a host of relatives and friends including a very special friend, Ms. Alma Prince. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Bowen.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Rock Island Baptist Church. Funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Ransom E. Howaard, Sr. officiating. Burial will folloow at Greenlawn Cemetery under direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
