Samuel DeLong, a well-known and highly esteemed citizen of near Schnecksville, died on the 15th inst., of paralysis of the heart, superinduced by general debility, aged 74 years and 15 days. He was a man of sterling worth and principle, and greatly loved and respected by all who knew him. He toiled on industriously throughout his life until the weight of his years compelled him to desist, and his passing away was peaceful in the extreme; with quiet hand he lifted and put aside the veil which divides this world from the eternal one, and with gentle calm glided into the darkness of death with serenest joy and greatest trust, and thus gained the solution of that which doth vex us all. When death comes to one who has reached the near sunset of life, and has become weary of earth's pilgrimage, it appears a glorious transition - from the feeble uncertainties of time and sense, to the living sureties of a more glorious state. Deceased is survived by his aged life partner and two sons. Also by two brothers - William, a member of the carriage making firm of DeLong & Dorward, at Schnecksville, and James, residing in the West. The funeral took place on Thursday last, interment and services at the Church in Unionville, Rev. E. J. Fogel officiating.
