Mrs. Rosie Bailey, 93, a lifelong resident of Newton County, died Aug. 24. The daughter of the late John and Alice Rogers Daniel, she was born in 1914. Mrs. Bailey retired from Bibb Manufacturing Co. and worked for the city of Porterdale as the city clerk. She was a member of Gateway Community Church and attended Porterdale Presbyterian Church and was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Bailey enjoyed baking cakes at Christmas and sharing them with family and friends. She was preceded in death by husband Leroy Bailey.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Mary and Gordon Griffin of Oxford; sons and daughters-in-law Lanier and Mary Bailey of Milner, Wayne and Ann Bailey of Covington; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 27, in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Herndon and the Rev. Sidney Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial park.
