Ruth Elizabeth Ellis, 93, of Meadowbrook Lodge nursing home, formerly of 312 N. 18th, Independence died Tuesday morning at Meadowbrook Lodge.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Hope Cemeery with the Rev. Jim Blocher of the First Baptist Church officiating. Frends may call at Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home untol 6 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Thursday.
Mrs. Ellis was born Oct 7, 1901, in St. Joseph, Mo. to Eli and Rosie (Shafer)(Note Should be Wilson) Arnold. She attended Cedar Vale Schools.
She Married Dewey Ellis on Sept. 26, 1919, in Sedan. He died in 1973.
She came to the Independence area in 1936 from Wichita. she worked as a cook at several cafes in Independence.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Lawrence McLaughlin, a daughter Mary Butler, Independence; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
