MORTON - Elias E. "Eli" Rassi, 87, of Morton died at 6:33 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
He was born June 25, 1922, in Morton to Carl and Mary (Muselman) Rassi. He married Pearl Schweigert on Feb. 18, 1950, in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife, Pearl Rassi of Morton; two sons, Greg (Carla) Rassi of Darien, Ill., and Gary (Debbie) Rassi of Morton; 11 grandchildren, Rachel (Greg) Carder of Burr Ridge, Ill., Matthew (Bridget) Rassi of Darien, Ill., Andrew (Sandy) Rassi of Morton, Nathan (Michelle) Rassi of Glen Carbon, Ill., Bethany (Lucas) Young of Bradford, Ill., Joshua (Mary) Rassi of Tremont, Aaron (Bree) Rassi and Sarah (Seth) Webb, both of Morton, Heather (Trent) Barth of Washington, and Amber Rassi and Jennifer Rassi, both of Morton; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sol (Sharilyn) Rassi and Bob Rassi, both of Morton; and two sisters, Clara Huber of Eureka and Leah Warren of East Peoria.
He was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, four brothers and nine sisters.
Eli farmed in the Morton area and also worked in construction for Roecker Brothers in Morton.
He was a member of the Morton Apostolic Christian Church, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
