Horace Raymond (Pete) Crowe Sr., 58, of 1007 Cottonwood Road, died today at a local hospital.

He was born in Charlottesville, July 4, 1907, the son of the late Abraham Crowe and Fannie Stokes Crowe.

He was a sheet metal worker for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway and a member of Christ Episcopal Church. He was a baseball pitcher for the Charlottesville Cardinals and the Charlottesville AC's in the 1920 and 1930s.

Surviving are his wife, Julia Collins Crowe; two sons, Dallas R. Crowe of Charlottesville and Horace R. Crowe Jr. of Ft. Knox. Ky.; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Belle Sutton of Charlottesville; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Bethel and Mrs. Belle Mitchell, both of Charlottesville, and Mrs. Ruth Evans of Baltimore, Md.; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Holly Memorial Gardens.
