DEATH CLAIMS LYDIA MARTZ - Mrs. Lydia Martz Dies Early This Morning At Home Of Daughter
Mrs. Lydia L. Martz, 78, well known Adams county resident, died this morning at 3:30 o'clock at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ves Baker east of the city.
Death was attributed to complications, following an extended illness. She had been seriously ill for the past four weeks.
The deceased was born in Monroe township, October 31, 1861, the daughter of James and Lydia Martz Wagoner. She was first married to William B. Hunter in October, 1883. He preceded her in death in 1905 and she was later married to Frank Martz, who survives.
She was a life-long resident of the county and a member of the First United Brethren church here.
Surviving, besides the daughter, Mrs. Baker, are two sons, Joseph A. Hunter and Floyd B. Hunter of Decatur, 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Two daughters are deceased. A brother, James L. Wagoner of Grand Rapids, Michigan and a sister, Mrs. Joseph Peterson of Portland, route two, also survive. Ten brothers and sisters are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock (CDT) at the home of the son, Joseph A. Hunter, 401 W. Adams street and at 2:30 o'clock at the First U. B. church with Rev. G. T. Rosselot officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur cemetery. The body will be taken to the home of the son Thursday morning and may be viewed there after 10 a.m. until time for the services.
