Published in the Athens Review, April 25, 1946:
Funeral services for J. H. 'Bud' Hamilton, of Eustace, who died last Friday night, were held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at the Baptist Church in Eustace. The services were conducted by the Reverend J. W. Williford, of Eustace, with burial following at Payne Springs. Pallbearers were Lonnie Mezzles, Vernon McKinney, Lloyd Holland, Shannon Harper, Willard Holland, all of Eustace. Mr. Hamilton was born June 6, 1906, the son of Mrs. Beatrice Fugate and the late Henry Petty Hamilton. He served in the Armed Forces for five years, forty two months of that time overseas, and received his discharge in September, 1945. He was married in February, 1946. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mildred Jones Hamilton; mother, one brother, Lonnie Hamilton, of Eustace; one sister, Mrs. Byron Andrews, Eustace; one half-sister, Mrs. Malon Southerland, and eight step-brothers and step-sisters, J. R. Fugate, Connie Fugate, G. C. Fugate, Mrs. Bertha Dean, and Miss Stella Fugate. Attending the services from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Fugate, Irvin Fugate, and family of Nixon, Connie Fugate and family, G. C. Fugate and family, Pat Dulaney, Richard Dewberry and family, Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Lunsford, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Parks, Mary Lawson, Mrs. Wade Owens and two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. J. L.
