Floyd Gilbert Valdez, 58, of Denver, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 1990, of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on I-70 near Golden. He was taken to St. Anthony Central Hospital where he died. Born Jan. 16, 1932, in Gardner to Pete and Margaret Garcia Valdez, he was reared in the ranching and farming communities of Gardner and Redwing and attended Gardner and Walsenburg schools. He entered the Army in 1950 and served three years. He married the former Erlinda A. Cisneros June 27, 1951 in Sacred Heart Church in Gardner. Most of Mr. Valdez' life has been spent in the Denver area working for a water well drilling company. Recently he was employed by the Colorado Academy, a private school, doing electrical maintenance work. Mr. Valdez was an active member of St. Cajetan's Church in Denver. He belonged to a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Club and enjoyed horseback riding and ranching in his spare time at his ranch near Larkspur. Survivors include his wife, Erlinda, Denver, three children, Floyd "Corky" Valdez and Maria Theresa Padilla, both of Denver and Juanita I. Mullin, Las Vegas, NV; two brothers, Charles Valdez, Copemish, MI and Louis Valdez, Pueblo; a sister, Suzanne O'Brien, Victorville, CA, his mother-in-law, Teresina Cisneros, Walsenburg; four grandchildren, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday (today) Mar. 1 from St. Mary Church in Walsenburg. Burial will be in Gardner Catholic Cemetery.
