Barmen, Aug 11, 1876
Before the below named city official appeared today in person, the locksmith Gustav Louis Knabe, resident of Barmen, Gewitter street #20, of the protestant faith, and did state that his wife Auguste Knabe, born Bergemann, same address, and of protestant faith, on the 5th of August, 1876 at 5 o'clock in the morning fave birth to a male child to whom the name Gustav Julius was given.

sailed from Antwerp, Belgium on Nov 21, 1894 on the ship S.S. Illinois and arriving in Philadelphia, PA on Dec 4, 1894.

Gustav had a photography business in Jacksonville,Florida when he married his wife, Lillie Reibling on Oct 17, 1899. She worked with him in the G. J. Photography Studio. They moved to Torrington, CT where they opened another Photography Studio, and a son, Edward L. Knabe was born Feb 3, 1902.

The last known documentation of Gustav was in 1905 in Appolo, PA where he had another photograph studio.
