James was the oldest son of James W. Monticue and Minnie Dale Monticue. James married Jessica Heflin about 1922 and the couple had four children: Leora E., James H., Shirley and Gloria. James H., their only son, died December of 1936. This contributed to tremendous stress which ended in the tragic death of both parents.
