Jeremiah was the son of Robert Wright & Nancy (Dale).
He was named after his uncle Jeremiah, who was killed in the War of 1812. Jeremiah lived most of his life in Fentress Co, TN, but was moved to Morgan Co, TN, in his later years so he could live with relatives. Jeremiah was a first cousin to Reverend A.B. Wright, a Methodist minister.
Family history says Jeremiah was a scout for the Union Army during the Civil War in East Tennessee, because he knew the Cumberland Plateau very well. The family built a log cabin in the corner of Union & Anderson counties to hide him. Jennie P., wife of Jeremiah's brother, Moses B., would sneak food to him at night.

Jeremiah married Zibah (Price) in about 1837 in Overton, Fentress Co, TN. Zibah was born in about 1820 in Kentucky.
