Graveside services honoring his life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Cooks Mills with Military Honors by the V.F.W. Post 4325. Visitation for family and friends will be held from Noon until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Avenue in Mattoon.
John was born June 27, 1921, in Coles County, Illinois, a son of Clyde and Mabel (Haddock) Blagg. He married Hazel Nadine Chism on November 22, 1945 in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, H. Nadine Blagg of Mattoon; two sons, John Ricky Blagg and wife Kathy and Ronald Allen Blagg, all of Mattoon; one daughter, Marcia Lee of Mattoon; two brothers, Dr. Robert Blagg and wife Barbara of Charleston and Joseph Blagg of Marshall; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Juanita Blagg; and one granddaughter, Cary.
Mr. Blagg was retired as a security guard for Pinkerton Security. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. Memorial gifts in his honor are suggested to Carle Hospice.
