Born October 29, 1936, in Louisville, KY, he was the son of Andrew and Thelma (Harden) Higdon.
Don was a project manager in the Physical Facilities Dept. at Indiana University for 25 years.
He was a member and a Bible School Teacher of the North Central Church of Christ for 34 years. He was a member and Past President of the Northside Exchange Club.
Don was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed auto racing, reading, traveling and listening to and playing music.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years Bernie (Gillim) Higdon; three daughters, Regina (Craig) Hill of Carmel, Kathy (Lee) Standiford of Loveland, CO, and Tracy (Rick) Huff of Noblesville; two sons, Wayne (Cindy) Higdon of Bloomington and David Higdon (Arturo Beeche) of Richmond, CA; grandchildren, Zach, Rachel, and Micah Hill, Hanna, Jacob and Lilly Huff, Ashley and Preston Standiford, and Zac Higdon-Beeche.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at The Funeral Chapel of Powell, Deckard, and Costin, 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington, IN, with Ministers Clay Humphries and Oliver Rogers officiating.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at The Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery.
