Mrs. Lorena D. Akins

Mrs. Lorena DeLoach Akins, 89, died in a Pooler Nursing Home early Friday August 31.

She was a native of Bulloch County and had lived near Statesboro all her life. She was of the Primitive Baptist faith.

Surviving are one son, Clayton L. DeLoach of Jacksonville, NC; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Herbert Fordham of Pooler, Mrs. Chester Williams, Mrs. Ben Waller and Mrs. John Rushing, all of Statesboro, and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 1, at 3:30 p.m. at the chapel of Smith-Tillman Mortuary in Statesboro with the Elder Howard Cox and the Rev. Reginald Hill offiiating. Burial will be in the Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be: Sollie Trapnell, Charles Lee, Gene Cowart, Daniel Strickland, Gerrald Strickland and Dennis Moore.

Smith-Tillman Mortuary of Statesboro is in charge of arrangements.
