He originally came to America with his brother, Peter, and settled in New Haven, but he moved to Milford when that became available to settle. James was originally buried in the garden of the Rev. Peter Prudden, his brother, and the garden later became part of the Milford Cemetery. There is no longer any marker for his burial. Death information came from Connecticut Church Record Abstracts 1630-1920 at Ancestry and reads as follows: James, adm. ch. Oct 13, 1639; d. Aug 1648 at Milford. PRUDDEN ANCESTRY: JAMES PRUDDEN #139 came to Nw Haven with the original group of settlers and had his home lot next to Reverend Peter Prudden. When Milford was settled, James Prudden left New Haven for Milford. According to an entry in the register at Kings Walden, Hertford County, England he married SIBIL MITCHELL #140 on 7 April 1608. She was buried on 27 May 1618. [Daughter] Ann Prudden was baptized on 8 February 1617-8. James was admitted to the Milford church on 13 October 1639 and died there in August 1648. They had two children Elizabeth and ANN #141, who married SAMUEL COOLEY #137 on 14 February 1640. Sources: Peter Prudden of New Haven and Milford by L.E.
