The following information was taken from an article which appeared in Sun Herald, Biloxi, MS on 1/16/2011 entitled "Searching for Rose's Killer"

Rose was 13 and the daughter of Ed and Jo Levandoski. She was a petite girl weighing less than 100 lbs. She is said to have had a love for horses.

Rose was last seen at St. Martin Junior High School shortly after noon on February 1, 1973, when she asked her teacher for permission to use the restroom. Her best friend, Diane Jones Guiterrez, repeatedly asked the teacher if she could go check on Rose when she didn't return to class. Those requests were denied. She was marked present for the rest of her classes because her teachers didn't want the quiet young girl to get in trouble. Rose, who had to leave the building to use the restroom in another building, was never seen again until her body was discovered three weeks later in the Tchoutacabouffa River a few miles from the school. She was nude and had been stabbed in the back. Rose's murder has never been solved.
