The Brainerd Daily Dispatch - Sept. 15, 1924

Rev. Walter G. Griggs was ordained to the priesthood in Brainerd, Minnesota, at Christ Episcopal church. The opening sermon was preached by Rev. Dr. Charles {?} of the Seabury Divinity School at Faribault. The candidate was presented to the bishop by Rev. Hans J. {?} of St. Cloud, Rev E. C. Kah-O-Sed, professor in the Divinity School for Indians at the White Earth reservation, and Rev. Wellington K. Boyle, missionary priest on the named reservation, also participated in the ceremony, with Rev. Frank H. Hallock of Faribault, Rev. R. A. Murphy of Wadena, Rev. J. J. {?}, Rev. Horatio N. Tragitt of Detroit, and Rev. Koran J {?} of Moorhead. Mr. Grigg will be the rector of the local parish. Mr. Griggs will be remembered as one of the very popular instructors at the Brainerd High School several years ago. He has many friends in the city who will be glad to learn of his ordination into the priesthood.

Obituary

On Monday, January 3, 1955, at his home, Columbus, GA., Rev. Walter G. Griggs, beloved son of the late Walter P. and Sallie Gassaway Griggs and nephew of Mrs. Bowie F. Waters and Dr. William N. Gassaway.

Friends are invited to call at the Colonial Funeral Home of Robert A. Pumphrey, Rockville, Md., where services will be held on Friday, January 7, at 10:30 a.m. Interment Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville, Md.
