Elizabeth Haskamp, born July 19, 1861, was another of the numerous residents of the province of Oldenburg, Germany, who came to America in the late eighties, and early nineties. Miss Haskamp crossed in the fall of 1891. A few months later, on Jan. 20, 1892, she was married to Anton Olberding in Sts.Peter and Paul church, Seneca. There were six children, five of whom are living: Mrs. Fred Feldkamp , Seneca; Mrs. Joseph Wassenberg, Marysville; Catechist Catherine Olberding, a missionary in Chicago; Conrad of Axtell and Lawrence of Seneca. One daughter , Elizabeth, died in infancy. There are 16 grandchildren. Two brothers are in Germany.
Mr. and Mrs. Olberding have lived on the farm east of Baileyville ever since their marriage. It was in these years of devotion to her family that she found time to assist Sacred Heart church in the work of the Altar Society.
Following the mass, the funeral cortege, with neighbors as pallbearers, came to Sts. Peter and Paul cemetery.
