O'Connor of St. Louis, reached home yesterday evening on the Sunnyland and the body of her deceased husband arrived this morning, being accompanied by Jas. Faris, a nephew, son of Judge Chas. B. DeBolt, pastor of the Presbyterian church, in charge, and interment will be in Little Prairie cemetery under auspices of Caruthersville Lodge No. 461, A.F.&A.M., of which Dr. Faris was a member for many years.
The deceased, who was a native of Caruthersville, having been born at the old Faris homestead here on Dec. 1, 1879, is survived by two brothers and three sisters, as follows: Judge Chas. B. Faris of the Federal District Court, St. Louis; Robert L. Faris, member of the Mississippi River Commission at Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Virginia Cunningham and Mrs. Mary Crider of this city and Mrs. Anna Reeves of Texarkana, Ark., also by a step-sister, Miss Josie Faulk, now living in Texas. Judge Faris adjourned the session of U.S. District Court yesterday until Thursday and will be here to attend the funeral if the condition of his health will permit.
Of his immediate family Dr. Faris is survived by the widow, Mrs. Marie Carson Faris and two children, John C. Jr., and Barbara.
Dr. Faris was educated in local schools and the state university, taking his medical degree at Washington University, St. Louis, and entering the practice of his profession in his home city, where he specialized in the treatment of diseases of the eye, ear, nose and throat. He was a member of the Presbyterian church for many years and of the Masonic lodge in its various branches during a large part of his life. He was an excellent citizen, loved and respected by all who knew him, and his passing is deplored by an unusually large circle of friends.
