Amy was baptized on 3 February 1754 at Durham, CT. She was the daughter of Abner Newton Jr and Huldah Spellman Newton. Huldah died of smallpox in 1771 and is probably buried at the Durham, CT Pest House Cemetery but no graves remain. Amy married Phineas Canfield 1 April 1773 at Durham, CT and they had 8 children--Thomas, Statyra, Jesse, Jershua, Betsy, Noyes, Content and Elizur. Amy died in October 1887 from complications of childbirth of her son Elizur who was born 4 October 1787.
