SANFORD -- John W. 'Bill' Almond, 79 of Sanford died Friday August 28, 2009 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Cool Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Mr. Almond served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. After retirement from the IRS he was the Supervisor Extraordinaire of DA's Restaurant. Mr. Almond was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church for some 44 years.
Mr. Almond is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carrie B. Almond; one son, David Almond; two daughters, Debi A. Lancaster and Mary A. Lineberry; and one brother, Tommy Almond.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.
