He was born in Olney and had been living in Joliet for several years, where he was engaged in construction work.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Fern; a son, Earl Francis Michels III of Joliet; his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Michels; three brothers, Earl Michels, Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; William Michels of Bluford, and Jack Michels of Elizabethtown, Ky.; and two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Pierson of Vergennes, and Mrs. Fairy Hawk of Joliet; a step-daughter, Mrs. Janet Alberico of Joliet; and one step-grandchild.
Mrs. Bessie Akins of Olney is a surviving grandmother, and his grandfather is Frank Long of Washington, Ind.
The remains are being returned to the Summers-Rainey Funeral Home and final arrangements will be announced later.
