This is the grave of my great grandfather Robert Felps, later changed to Phelps, Bennett. He was the son of John Bennett and Falby Felps Bennett, who married in KY in 1820, the family came to MO in 1831.

There were 12 children of this marriage, only 8 were alive at time of a book on Randolph/Macon county history was written, R F was one of those deceased.

The grave of Isadore, (spelled as Isa Dora in the book) is his first wife, she was a Powell. They had born to them a daughter, Minnie Molly in 1869, this little girl was taken in by his brother John S Bennett, wife Elizabeth Powell Bennett and raised by them after both of her parents died, I am thinking that Isadora (on grave) born 1850 may have died during childbirth, but don't know?

The little girl may have lived with Robert and even Amanda Darby Bennett, until his death in 1874, Amanda then married Henry Thomas Newton, and her and Robert F's children were going by Newton in 1880 Census, they were named Robert Elmer, born 1874 (my grandfather) and Mattie B born 1871 in December.

The next census shows Minnie/Molly living with John and Elizabeth Bennett. Records from those families indicate the little girl died soon after that census.

By 1900. Mattie and Robert E were going by Bennett again, and living in Randolph Co. He married my grandmother Mary E Lamb soon after.

I believe the grave marked as Mattie B, death in 1909, to be the sister of Robert E.

The above information came from Melanie Rowley, a FAG contributor.
