Services: Will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at First United Methodist Church, Alexandria.

Visitation: Will be at the church Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Funeral services for Mary Frances Pfost Ewing Adler will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at First United Methodist Church, Alexandria with Reverend Henry C. Blount and Reverend Barry Hoekstra officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville.

Visitation will be at the church Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Adler received her nursing degree at age 55 and worked as nurse for Dr. Thomas Easterling. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, a member of the choir, a 40 year member of The Current Book Club, active in the garden clubs and a volunteer at the People's Free Clinic, Rapides General Hospital and CASA. She was well known for her homemade cinnamon rolls and breads.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, C.E. Ewing, Jr. and Homer Adler; parents, Reverend Howard E. and Lucy Norton Pfost and sister, Adona Pfost Cain.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Sandy Ewing and wife, Charlotte of Baton Rouge, Dr. Tim Ewing and wife, Kay of Baton Rouge, Robin Elliott Ewing and wife, Suzanne of Alexandria and Chris Ewing and wife, Karen of Baton Rouge; daughters, Katherine Ewing and husband Bruce Goodwin of Bath, Maine and Hope Ewing O'Quin and husband Greg of Alexandria; brother, Philip Pfost of Wesley Chapel, Florida; grandchildren, Parker Ewing, Alyson Ewing, Patrick O'Quin, Kathryn O'Quin Gassiott, Philip O'Quin, Elliott Ewing, Blair Ewing, Neill Ewing-Wegmann, Fran Ewing and Riley Ewing; eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be her grandsons, Parker Ewing, Patrick O'Quin, Philip O'Quin, Elliott Ewing, Blair Ewing and Neill Ewing-Wegmann.
