Lieut. Zadog Aydelotte of the 81st Reg't. Penn'a. Vol's. Son of G. H. & J. A. T. Aydelotte. At the battle of Fredericksburg Dec'r. 13, 1862 though twice severely wounded he continued to lead his men till he lay upon the field with nine wounds, the larger portion of them mortal. Bearing his sufferings with heroic fortitude he lingered till Jan'y 5, 1863, when he died at Washington, D.C. in the 19th year of his age. Among his last words were "I die for God and my country."
