Jonathan Shepherd was an Episcopal Minister. He was married to Evelyn Mann Turner and had one son, Herbert M. Shepherd. Before moving to Sonoma County Jonathan was a College Professor and Evelyn was the principal of a school in Maryland.
Son of Jonathan Shepherd (d.1825) and Abigail (Avery) Shepherd. (His mother Abigail married, second, in 1832, Stephen Hall.)

Rev. Shepherd delivered the opening for the confederate congress during its first session in Montgomery, Alabama.
