From Geneva Gazette 24 August 1883
Mrs. Susan C. Pratt - Died on the 19th inst. at the advanced age of 99 years. Her funeral services were held Wednesday forenoon at the residence of her son-in-law, W. A. Herrick, Esq. She was the wife of Harry Pratt, who emigrated from Hartford, Conn., to Rochester in 1829. They attended the Brick Church in Rochester, Mr. Pratt being an elder for many years. Mrs. Pratt's maiden name was Susan Cleveland, daughter of the Rev. Aaron Cleveland of Norwich, Conn., and sister of the Rev. Charles Cleveland of Boston, who, had he lived sixteen days longer, would have attained the remarkable age of one hundred years. She was an aunt of Bishop Cox of Buffalo, and great-aunt of the present Governor of this State, Grover Cleveland. Mr. and Mrs. Pratt had thirteen children, of whom eight are now living; forty-eight grandchildren, of whom thirty are now living; two great-great grand children both of whom are living.
Including the husbands and wives, their descendants numbered one hundred thirty eight, of whom ninety-five are living at the present time. This was indeed a most remarkable family for longevity. Mrs. Pratt has resided in Geneva the past four years with her son-in-law Mr. W. A. Herrick. The remains of Mrs. Pratt were taken to Rochester Wednesday and interred in the family plot in Mt. Hope cemetery.
At the funeral (which was held in the Brick Church, Rochester) Rev. Dr. Nelson, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Geneva, officiated, assisted by the Rev. D. Dickey. Six of the great-grandchildren attended. The honorary bearers were Martin Briggs, J. W. Hatch, J. Davies, Edward Webster, G. N. Storms and T. A. Newton.
