WESSINGTON SPRINGS - Clara S. Short, 97, Wessington Springs, died Tuesday Aug. 25, 2009, at Weskota Manor/Avera Health. She is survived by four sons, Hugh Harold, McPherson, Kan., William Douglas, Rapid City, and John Roger and James Burton, both of Ames, Iowa; one sister, Evelyn Holzer, Timber Lake; two stepsiblings, Burdette Thompson, Spearfish, and Marion Starr, Frankfort; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Burton, preceded her in death. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. CDT today at Basham Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Foothills Bible Fellowship Church, with the Rev. Don Grubb officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Foothills Bible Fellowship or the Shakespeare Garden Society.
