Benjamin & Minnie Moxley were my great, great-grandparents. Their daughter, not listed, was Maud Marion Moxley. She was born 4/3/1877. She died from childbirth 2/1897. Her daughter, Minnie Anderson, was that baby. Maud had a son, ALVA PORTER ANDERSON, born 6/14/1895. She was married to CARLOS ANDERSON. When she died, Mr. Anderson wanted to put both children in an orphanage. Their grandfather, Benjamin Moxley, Maud's father, would not allow that. Mr. Moxley said, "No, I'll take them and raised them." He and his wife did just that. When Alva & Minnie were about 10 years old, their father returned wanting to collect them to put them to work. The grandfather ran him off.

Alva Porter Anderson grew up in Portland, later married Mildred "Olive" Wilson. They had two children: Carlos Wilson Anderson (1918-2009) and Mignon Louise (Anderson) Knieriem (1920-1974).

Alva and Olive moved from Portland, OR, to San Francisco, CA, in June 1926. The road trip took about 5 days. He got a job as a streetcar conductor. He drank some contaminated water and got tyhphoid fever. He died January 1, 1927. He was 32 years old. His son, my father, Carlos Wilson Anderson was 8-1/2 and Mignon just turned 7.

My father, Carlos W. Anderson, had a photo of his grandparents' burial site, but not name of the cemetery on it. My dad had info on the sons. One was named Harold and the other Robert. I have a family photo of all of them: Benjamin, Minnie, their two sons, Alva & Minnie, and a little boy taken about 1911.
