"Ellen Updegrave, born May 13, 1837 Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, died April 13, 1900 Lutheran and Reformed Church Cemetery, Orwin, Pennsylvania, married October 25, 1897 Orwin, Pennsylvania, Issac Monroe Evans, born October 12, 1834 Wadesville, Pennsylvania, died June 16, 1897, son of William and Elizabeth (?) Evans, who migrated from Ponty Pool, Wales and settled in the Minersville, Pennsylvania area in 1829. Isaac moved to Porter Township, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania in 1868 and was associated with Savage Brothers, Evans and Althouse, to sink the first slope, known as the Evans Slope, at East Brookside Colliery. After several years of mining, Isaac operated a general store at Kalmia. He then established a business in Reinder City in 1877 and bought the corner property from Henry Allspach. He was the first postmaster in Muir. Issac's brother, Thomas Evans, lived with his wife Hannah on a farm at the Forks east of Muir and worked with Isaac as a teamster. After Isaac retired in 1887, the Muir store and post office was taken over by his two older sons, R. Roland and I. Albert and was known as A. Evans and Brother. The store had been enlarged with lumbar from Kalmia buildings and this business continued until Albert died in 1934 when it was then taken over by Eli Kaufman and his wife, Ellen, daughter of Roland Evans. They operated the store until 1959 completing more than 80 years of business. Children: Ida, Martha, John, Henrietta, William, Sarah, I. Albert, R.
